This time of year most ppl around the world celebrate christmas, xmas whatever they choose to call it and some of our ppl choose to celebrate or have kwanza as an alternative or just to keep up a tradition, which ever way I don’t judge and I’m tolerant and somewhat flexible because I’m in the midst of it all. But for about 4-5 years now I haven’t celebrated anything, not to say am an extremist but I’m just challenging myself to not get caught up into over spending. My Sister recently asked me to get her some stuff and I thought about it and said these things are not must haves, but I decided I will get her what she desires. Then I thought again, that our Father has outstanding medical expenses and our Parents $ has been deceasing due to the expenses brought on by his accident and their health issues and other day to day living stuff. So I said to her I don’t want to carry these expenses into so call 2021 let us try and offset these expenses so at least we don’t have a heavy financial weight going fwd, what u think? She said I agree. I say this to say however or whatever or whenever we celebrate and it involves $ always think how will this affect my financial situation going fwd, do I owe anyone $? is there a loan I can pay off? Can I clear the balance on that credit card and let them quit tricking me into just paying the minimum amount balance on it? is spending this $ now necessary? As much as many of us may not get caught up in the spending this time of the year, at times we do in other ways and we just have to check ourselves all the time to know if this is necessary or is this appropriate at this time. There are so many things out there that r tempting and although we may not take part in christmas we have other things that r telling us it’s ok to spend our $ with them because they may replace the label of christmas to something else so that we don’t feel guilty. So not just for this time of year but at all time around, let’s always check our intentions before spending $ and ask ourselves do we have any bills outstanding that should be cleared up? Spending this $ is this really necessary or important or how will this add value to me and others around me? Let’s try to be debt and financially free going fwd, clear that credit card outstanding balance if u can and if u can live without a credit card get rid of it, if u can’t just use it wisely and only if there is no other way. Try paying off that student loan or any loan at all or try cutting it down as best as u can and set a goal when u desire to clear it of, so u can be discipline and hold ur self accountable. Never borrow $ for things u know u don’t need and If u can do without borrowing $ do so. If u can barter and trade ur strength, energy and resources or things instead of using $ do so but with people who really understands how these things work, because some people low key or high key have a slave master mentality so be wise and use discernment in all you do. Love, health and blessings to everyone, big up!!!👊🏿 4 years ago ·

I don’t see anti- Afrikan celebrations as being an extremist at all it’s because I mentioned I haven’t celebrated anything for about 4-5 years now and that may come off as a bit extreme. I’m open and tolerant to celebrations that are meaningful and constructive and also in the spirit of sharing in a moment of togetherness with family and friends regardless of our different Spiritual, cultural and religious persuasions @kwadwo.
