HTP Abibitumi Family!! There is an excellent article in our BuddyDrive in this folder, https://www.abibitumi.com/buddydrive/folder/sankofa-in-the-asasif-necropolis-from-dr-tony-browder/. The article was written by Dr. Anthony T. Browder and it is entitled ‘Sankofa in the Asaif Necropolis’.
There are three takeaways from the article. One is the fact that the concept and symbol of “sankofa” most likely has Nubian, or even pre-Nubian, roots. I thought that was fascinating. It makes me feel good as an Afrikan to see the generational transmission of our sacred artistic symbols from pre-Nubia, through numerous Kemetic dynasties, to the Akan people on the west coast of Afrika, and eventually to my part of the world, the united snakes (I have a Sankofa tat on my arm..). Next, I like that fact that our Kemetic ancestors used their historical traditions for inspiration. That is a great object lesson for us today. Lastly, it’s great to know that an exhibit at the Luxor Museum comes directly from an Afrikan in the diaspora. I’m sure that there is not another Afrikan in america, or in any other part of the diaspora or continent, that can say they have a Kemetic exhibit at that museum. Not that this was done for bragging rights, but it is a significant achievement and accomplishment for our people and something that should be celebrated.
Please read the article and post your thoughts to this group. Also take a look at the related resources in that folder. Dr. Anthony T. Browder will discuss the contents of this article with the Abibitumi Liberating Truth book club on Sunday Jan. 31st at 10:00am EST. The details to connect to the Zoom link for that presentation are below.
