💚💚My Ghanaian sisters 💚💚There’s an Afrikan proverb that goes “It’s better to know someone in the village than to know the village” and that’s how I feel about traveling to new places. You have to know the character of the people to truly get to know the place. To learn the values of the place and also just how to move around.
I am from the Diaspora (Baltimore, Maryland) and these two ladies are from the Upper East Region of Ghana.
So, yes Ghanaian/Continental women and women from the Diaspora can develop rich, fruitful, supportive, and loving friendships—and just use their differences as just opportunities to teach each other. My Ghanaian sisters know the recipes, healing remedies, daily responsibilities, songs, language, social codes, home decor, sewing and other home skills. I respect and admire them. Their woman craft is on point. 👏🏾
At the end of the day, we are BLACK
WOMEN that love our people, our culture, and want to contribute to the future of our Continent, Africa. Throughout my entire journey in Ghana for this trip, we supported each other. Here’s a reminder to call on and spend time with your sister friend. We need each other to heal and grow. 💚💚💚 4 years ago ·-
