This was a great session! Here’s the video I mentioned brother Ely (AfricansArise) did on stateless African societies: https://t.co/a5TvROHaLT

Good insights there. From my perspective I see the issue to be more complex than centralized vs decentralized. For example, both Kikuyu and Igbo were decentralized but from historical documents, the Kikuyu had a standing army while the Igbo had no standing army which rendered them vulnerable to razzias by mohammedans and european armies. Also, Kongo was centralized but still suffered raids by portuguese. One difference I note is that eurasians and their varied states operate under a common policy of domination while Afrikans seem not to have a common policy of operation in the world. Moreover, the dominating mind has the benefit of initiative

this is good info brother Karuga, I need to read more on the Kikuyu

Indeed. I should have also added a centralized comparison to Kongo which can be Mutapa kingdom, both centralized and with armies but Kongo was overrun by portugal while Mutapa defeated and kicked portugal out of of Zambezi valley for good hence they were never kidnapped to slavery. This would entail use of another variable to determine the different results.. which in my opinion is Kongo’s adoption of christianity

The primary outcome variable is always power or lack thereof.-
Exactly. Looking at the comprehensive definition of power.. I also agree that it’s power
-
another brother I talked to about this, for Afrikan “anarchism” cited: “One of the militaristic & most powerful societies in Precolonial Africa was the Imbangala of Central Africa. “
-
the imbangala were portuguese tools in the raiding and capture of Black people in central afrika to slavery. they were militaristic for the wrong purposes. though it seems like they disappeared and i haven’t found who their descendants are yet to make any connection with contemporary times

Read Ɔbenfo T.J. Desch-Obi’s Fighting for Honor for how they settled and became agriculturalists mixing together with those they raided previously.-
this is a pending read
-
on a side note I recently found out Desch-Obi lives in colombia…need to see if we can find out what he’s up to over there. I wonder if he’s studying Esgrima from the Macheteros (machete people) of Cauca?
