I really, really debated on posting this what other place better to do it than here. Well, I left America in June and haven’t returned since and honestly , am beginning to feel like taking African Ancestry tests were a waste of money. Maybe it won’t be in the future but for now that’s how I feel, I feel like I could’ve spent that $600 to get a detailed consultation with Dr. Obadele Kambon or some immigration lawyer that will really tell me how I can realistically afford to repatriate to Africa ASAP, based on my circumstances. It’s a lot I wish I’d known before… this Nigerian tourist visa sucks a whole lot and marriage is not an option for me right now plus I shouldn’t have to marry to get what I deserve (my birthright). So much complications just wish there were more affordable and better ways for serious Africans born in the diaspora like myself to stay and live home in Africa!🤷🏾♀️Sighs…….

Mema wo adwo (good evening). I am sorry to hear the difficulties that you are facing in your repatriation journey and I am deeply disappointed that Nigeria is not more welcoming to us in the diaspora, especially those of us whose ancestors were from that region. Thank you for your honesty about the African Ancestry test because I felt some reluctance to take it. I do think you should do the consultation, I’m about to do one myself in a couple weeks. With that being said, hongera (congratulations) on making that big step and moving to the continent. Keep us updating on your journey. You’re not alone.

Hi my sister. 👋🏾 Thank you for taking the time out to read and respond. It’s definitely a struggle and a lot of complications especially since I don’t wanna leave because I’m enjoying myself so much. I am here in Nigeria on tourist visa, which mine is valid for two years but the way they operate is they give you only one month permitted stay each time I enter into the country. If I want to extend it I have to say 20,000N naira which is around $40 and that will only extend it for 26 additional days. I’ve done that only once so far. And I think if someone wants to extend it for even more additional time after that, it’s $200 and I’m not sure how long they give you for that. Long story short is it it’s too much. Too costly for all of these extensions, for what? And as I think about it and realize this American passport has pearls and now a lot of cars that come with it because basically I’m being treated as a foreigner when I’m not. We all know that the nationality is foreign but weBlacks in the diaspora are not foreign at all to our Ancestral land no matter how long we’ve been separated but that’s the reality of what I’m dealing with now. It’s very stressful but I am not giving up I am still doing extensive research online to weigh out my options. So far what I’ve done is left Nigeria to go to neighboring Benin Republic and get a Benin Republic visa; I mean it’s a little better but it’s still stress having to go back-and-forth between the two colonial states. I would rather start getting settled somewhere here in Africa than having to move around too much “forcibly” in a way. I thought if I would want to move around this much it would be by choice. So my Benin visa was around 100,000 CFA which is about $180 more or less, but it was only supposed to be no more than $100 but that’s another story for another day. But at least they gave me three months permitted stay but it’s about time to extend the visa and now I’m dealing with complications which is a whole other story but yeah on the other hand I literally don’t want to leave Africa. I don’t even have plans to go back to the states I don’t have anyone there or anything there anyways except my car. 😅

Habari! Sorry for not replying all those months ago sis.. I meant to but kept forgetting. Any updates on your journey? Did you go back to nigeria or stay in Benin?

Yes yes yes! Hello again sista. Yes yes yes! Hello again sista. Yes yes yes! Hello again sista. I eventually went back to Nigeria and left twice since my last update. I’m now in Lomè, Togo 🇹🇬.
I’ll be in Ghana soon from here. Then after about 2 months I’ll go back to Nigeria and finish with apartment searching. I’m thinking of getting a place in Lagos. But I also wouldn’t mind living in Ghana so I’ll just see which is more convenient and likable for me after I see Ghana in about 2 weeks time from now. I’ve just been traveling a lot. I’ve traveled to several states in Nigeria. But I’m still not even done yet lol. Any updates with you??

Hello sister, I think you should still do the consultation with Okunini Obadele Kambon. Out of all the Pan Africanist, he is one of the few people I can trust. He really wants All black/Afrikan people to succeed. He is doing great things in Ghana; so if I was you I will definitely contact him. Nyame nhyira wo (God bless you in twi.
