@Lwanga Songsore thank you for being at every antenatal and midwife appointment, up front and center, asking questions and handling the transactions. For massaging me with shea butter, rubbing my growing belly and laying near my stomach to nurture our growing baby. For being careful with your tone when correcting me, to protect my overly sensitive (hormonal) heart.
For giving me blankets and pillows (and moving a whole mattress one time) when I fall into my pregnant naps that turn into full sleep sessions at random places. For cooking delicious meals and taking on more housework, on days that I’m too tired from pregnancy and hours of client work to handle anymore tasks for the day. For holding my crying face, when my worries overwhelm me, to remind me that you love us. That you are here. For all the times that you think of baby names, designs for baby clothes and cloth diapers, and ways you can improve yourself to be a better father.
For allowing me to experience a love so pure. For being a true example of what a Black man should be to a woman carrying life. Steady, strong, and soft all in the right places.
