Seems to me like a colonial deal was struck between france and england for french to de-scale from their colonies in Africa and leave them “free to commerce of all eurasians” (Congo model) with Mali and C.A.R being “pilot projects”, in exchange for france being allowed access into anglo-colonies which are perceived to give high returns and being economically diversified

True. Gabon, Rwanda, Togo, Mozambique… Right now, Lome, Togo is probably the busiest port in west Africa since the jihadist govt of Nigeria closed all ports in the niger delta leaving only Lagos at limited capacity. They also closed borders in the east
