PLEASE HELP ME SPREAD THE WORD!
      AFRIKAN WARRIOR MEN’S DAY 2022
I am cordially inviting all of our Warrior men and Warrior-in-Training boys to come out to the Black Dot Bookstore and Cultural Center for the Sixth Annual Afrikan Warrior Men’s Day celebration because it will be specifically in honor of you. For those unable to physically attend, see the registration instructions because this event will also be streamed live.
As the flier says, this presentation will solely be “In Honor of The Warriors.” I intend to take this time to publicly express the community’s gratitude for your presence and work for us. Often, in this anti-Afrikan reality, it can be made to appear that most of those you serve are ungrateful for, and even resentful toward, what you think, say and do as a Warrior for the people. We will be spending these three hours on September 10th debunking this myth and talking about how, even if it were true, you should be grateful within yourselves for doing the required, righteous work. And, in addition, there will be a surprise statement or two from others in the community who sincerely appreciate your work.
Also, this Afrikan Warrior Men’s Day celebration will be the last one I host of its kind. Starting next year, Afrikan Warrior Men’s Day and Afrikan Warrior Women’s Day will permanently be brought together to form Afrikan Warriors Day. In the face of the divisive intersex hatred growing in our community, we see this as the wisest move to confront and counter this pernicious, socially and culturally regressive, complementarity/family/community undermining and unnatural onslaught.
My book Prayers of Gratitude will be the foundation of this honoring of our Warriors and Warriors-in-Training. But do not be confused about the book’s title. Many have somehow (definitely without knowing me) misinterpreted it as a religious discussion/statement because of the word “Prayers.” It is not. When we use the word prayer, we, as knowledgeable Warriors who are in touch with our connection with Spirit and who see no reason to separate ourselves from all that is divine, know that we are speaking about the content and flow of our thought every second of every day. So, if anything, this book is a praise song honoring who we are and the work that we do for the people. And this has absolutely nothing to do with any religion.
That said, I am looking forward to your presence at this celebration and honoring of you. I am fully aware that everyone’s schedule is beyond busy, that your plates are overflowing with vital duties and responsibilities. However, Warriors and Warriors-in-Training need to make the time to celebrate self, to find the time to “get away” and relax among like minds and like workers. This special event, we intend to claim as one such time.
