This yurugu? The Dogon would be so confused.

i’m sure that is true. whatever the terminology, increasingly, mentality has become my measurement for many things/ways/”peoples” (maybe conveniently so but still) and, on so many levels, the myth Mama Marimba provides at the beginning of her book Yurugu quite adequately speaks to the personality with which we are dealing.

I hear you. Increasingly, behavior has become my measurement, but I get you.

I just read through the version of the myth at the beginning of Yurugu. It leaves out the portion that now yurugu is used for divination.

everyone doesn’t understand innate evil. sometimes tradition gets locked into a worldview which is oblivious to a historical character which speaks to a despiritualized, dehumanized, just straight up ugly nature.

Do you think Vulpes pallidus is inherently evil. From the write-up in the book not too much seems sinister about it: “The blond desert fox (Vulpes pallidus) is rarely more than fifty centimeters long without the tail; overall, his coat is a brownish tan. Weight; 2 kg.
Sub-species; — Vulpes pallidus edwardsi, Rochebrune (Sahelian and sahelo-soudanese regions of Senegal, Soudan. Nigerial. — Vulpes pallidus harterti, Thomas and Hinton (Damxergou. Air). Vulpes pallidus oertzeni, Matschie (northeast of Bornou. Chad to the Tibesti) the foxes of the region of Gaya, Niger, are related to this subspecies.
Little is known about the biology of African foxes. The blond fox lives in families in lairs with tunnels 10 to 15 m. long, branching into small chambers filled with bedding of dry straw. (Bigourdan and Prunier). Its food includes rodents, lizards, domestic and wild birds. Malbrant adds that it sometimes eats wild watermelon. The genetic make-up of the starveling fox is 40 chromosomes (Matthey, 1954).” Griaule, M., & Dieterlen, G. (1986). The pale fox. Continuum Foundation., p. 548. Maybe this small omnivorous mammal has gotten conflated with a much more inherently evil being.-
i’m not referring to this beautiful creature. i’m only referring to europeans.

That’s what I was mentioning with conflation. In Dogon, the word yurugu refers to this animal (Vulpes pallida) and it’s used for divination. But at any rate, to only refer to so-called europeans is problematic as our enemies include all aAmw (eurasians) and their progeny like how we used to. It’s also problematic because europe is a continent that isn’t actually a continent but a figment of greco-roman imagination in contradistinction with the anatolian peninsula.

yes, i am aware of all three of these.
