Check out this amazing new platform on “Race, Activism and Law” by Afrodescendant activist Jonh Jak Becerra. I would appreciate all the support to share this much needed resource on anti-racist activism & anti-Black racism in the Americas. The cost to join the platform is only $5 per month … although people can also contribute more to support their important work!

For more information about Jonh Jak’s incredible work, please read the following:
“In 2018, Jonh Jak, represented by attorneys from the research and advocacy organization De Justicia, won a precedent-setting case in Colombia’s Constitutional Court affirming the responsibility of private employers to address racial discrimination and harassment in the workplace. Unfortunately, although the court ruled in favor of Jonh Jak, he was not awarded any monetary damages. In addition, the national attention generated by the case has meant that Jonh Jak has been completely marginalized from the labor market in Colombia and has been unable to secure permanent employment since the judgment was handed down. Although he is frequently asked to speak to university students, participate in academic conferences and give media interviews, most of these engagements are unpaid or provide only a token stipend.
To address his financial situation and continue his activist work, John Jak has created a Patreon platform. One component of the platform will be a podcast, the first episode of which aired on December 6. In this initial episode, Jonh Jak talks about his experiences growing up between the cities of Bogotá, Medellín, Quibdó and the rural areas of the department of Chocó during the 1980s and 1990s.
Future episodes of the podcast will highlight Jonh Jak’s insights on a variety of interrelated topics-particularly racialization, anti-racist activism, and the law-not only as they relate to the Colombian context and his own court case, but also from a transnational perspective, with a comparative Inter-American approach.”

Ah, I almost forgot…. I’m helping to build this platform too! So it would be great if you would like to support me and my brilliant colleague and friend, Dr. Malathi Iyengar, who got me into this project!
