“The second assumption that the African worldview is the only viable base for African liberation is equally supported by ancient and continuous tradition. Conversely, when the leadership abandons these principles the results have been disastrous. The truly great pharaohs of ancient Egypt are all associated with the restoration of the ancient world orientation. The last of these truly great restorers was perhaps Shabaka of the so-called Twenty-fifth Dynasty, about 750 b.c. Shabaka, one of the so-called Ethiopian pharaohs who established a new capital further south than previous lineages, in ordering the restoration of an ancient text (which the Egyptologists identify as the Memphite theology) asserted:

‘This writing was copied out anew by his majesty in the house of his father…for his majesty found it to be a work of the ancestors which was worm-eaten.’ (Lichtheim, 1975, p. 52)

Throughout the history of ancient Egypt the literature identified the period of disorder (yisfit) as the abandonment of the right way or Maat. The ‘prophets’ always prophesied a restorer who would reestablish Maat—the ancient African world order.”
