Those of us who have been entrusted with knowledge of our traditions, our values, our rituals, and so forth have, I believe, an obligation to use such knowledge for the restoration of our people. I maintain that the two greatest imperatives for African people today are sankɔfa, that is the reclamation of our culture, and abibifahodie, that is the restoration of our power and, necessarily, the nullification of all forces opposed to it. These two objectives are inextricably linked.
