Maakye abusuafo! Just had an observation to share. Yesterday I was reflecting on our street name here in Dansoman, “Aban St”. From what I found, “Aban” translates as “Government” in Obrofo, and the Aban adinkra symbol represents a great fortress/magnificent house/seat of power (and more). Later that evening, my wife and I were enjoying some Ethiopian food at Abyssinia in Accra, and they were playing Ethiopian music videos, like always, and while watching I saw a shot of one of King Lalibela’s rock-hewn churches, Biete Ghiorgis, and from the top, it looked exactly like the Aban adinkra symbol. It certainly seems to fit the magnificent house description too! Does anybody agree, disagree, or have comments?
