Sudan and Obafemi

Strong observation indeed.
-
You have to Know Yourself & Be Yourself.
-
a point which goes over so many heads because there’s a limit to how much knowing self they have a desire to do…and so they pretend and defend that partial knowing to the death.

I was thinking about the degree to which Lutriwita (e.k.a. Tasmania) fits in. Difference in culture without power and military superiority may not so much evince potential for liberation as potential for extermination. Otherwise, it’s a thoughtful statement in the context in which it was applied.
-
Yebo that’s an example however there’s an honor in the Lutriwitans dying being THEM, not culturally enslaved, misoriented, kwk.

True. Even more honor in having the power and military superiority to kill the cavebeast.

-
yes, within the context in which it is applied. other mitigating variables can often completely undermine what should be obvious truths.

Ampa! As in most cases of applied wisdom, context is key.
-
-
i like to see these variables re: power and military superiority as part of culture too. Esp. if culture is supposed to be “the composite answer to the varied problems of life”

@songsore, what are the implications of that definition in the context of the original quote?
-
I see the quote as a prognosis/observation of the condition of, without a doubt, black people in oppression and in need of a liberation as a solution. But if our ancestors created power and maintained it amongst other things then we can refer to those things relating to power and military superiority for direction. If we think our place is to be humble and wait for eternal glory in heaven as the oppressor likes us to believe, then we have not tapped into those aspects of our culture that talk about bringing pillage and plunder to our aggressor and the means/direction to do so

@songsore Right, I notice that oftentimes we think of culture simply as food, dance, and/or music, but not in other areas that are deemed “practical” or “intellectual”.

So, if our oppressors have power, then our culture would need to be similar in the sense of having more power.
