“The Afrocentric worldview is based upon two basic truths which have been transmitted by our ancestors:
-
There is a distinct and universal African worldview. This concept is best illustrated by the idea presented by Cheikh Anta Diop’s book, The Cultural Unity of Black Africa, which I would modify to include the idea of the Cultural Unity of Black African people throughout the world.
-
The African worldview, modified to account for modern conditions, is the only viable foundation for African liberation. Wherever records still exist the wisdom of the African people proclaims the necessity of the restoration of the African worldview as the necessary condition for liberation. An assessment of history demonstrates that when the principle has been followed, liberation struggles have gone forward. In contrast retrogression has taken place when the principle has been abandoned.”
