ABOUT OUR GUEST SPEAKER
Foday Ajamu Mansaray aka Mansa Foday Ajamu is a prominent human rights advocate, political activist, and internationalment organizer who was born in the United States and now lives in Sierra Leone. He is of Gullah Geechee family heritage and has a diverse multi-ethnic ancestry that includes African ancestors from various countries such as Cameroon, Nigeria, Mali, Kenya, Sierra Leone, Liberia, and Congo.
“Chief Foday” as he is affectionately referred to by his close friends, family, and supporters is a founding member of the Gullah Nation Of North America (GNONA) and currently serves as the Executive Director for the GNONA nonprofit organization. He was elected as the third Paramount Chief of the community association by the GNONA Council of Elders and General Membership in convention on January 31, 2018, and was ceremonially coronated under traditional Mandinka authorities in Bonoya village located in April 2019.
In addition to his work with GNONA, Chief Foday is also the Founder and Executive Director of the Black Star Action Network International (BSANI). He has dedicated 24 years of his adult life advocating for human rights, promoting political activism, and organizing international movements for African unity, liberation, and economic emancipation.
Furthermore, he serves as the High Commissioner General of West Africa for the UNIA-ACL Rehabilitating Committee 2020, and as a modern African diaspora repatriate with over a decade of experience living in the motherland, he champions the cause of repatriation through BSANI.
Chief Foday’s ultimate goal is to inspire people to take volunteer action on their own behalf and with their own will as a first step towards progress and positive transformation. His mission is to provide clear vision and practical direction to the community in which he serves among dedicated leaders.
