Where are the independent African institutions that can give certificates and degrees based on studies of the Africentric movement?
Where are the media houses producing printed and visual works to promote the scholarly tradition in our cultures?
Where are the celebratory awards?
One major thing that Nana Marcus Garvey did that we need to take a second look at is the methods of raising the self-esteem of the race…simple things like honorary titles and positions go a long way in promoting a positive self-image and also organizing our people.
Without the institutions and blessings of the elders, the legitimacy of our efforts cannot be as strong as they could be.
As a child, I was blessed to witness the leadership of my father. It gave me the confidence to stand upright on my sovereignty as an African person even when I did not have any backing except my understanding of my ancestors. However, many people who do not have this drive need communal assurance to have a sense of sovereignty.

We know they will come for in every day. Why have we not moved forward regardless?
If we do not take the meaning of sovereignty to its root. We will continue to try and solve our problems with only half our faculties and capabilities.
