There are a number of important things in this episode of People Fixing the World such as the psychological impact of colonialism, the attempted deculturalization and extermination of Aboriginal Australians, the connections between language and cultural identity, and finally the process of language revitalization. I take some inspiration from these stories, as I firmly believe that language is a central pillar of cultural identity, and thus see the reclamation of African languages as vital to those of us in the Diaspora.
