Abibifahodie fam!
You know I keep saying Im going to do a video on this but…..havent yet. 😃
Have you all ever looked at the history of mathematics? Have you all seen those documentries on the history channel?
There’s a class called the history of mathematics that many math majors take. I was kinda mad that I had to take that class but after taking it, I have to say, I learned more than what I expected. My professor was Greek so he was excited when he met me. So for me I’ve been a reble rouser since I was in high school. My dad put me on when I was 12. He use to make us watch For The People back in the day. When I took this class I was tired. I was also taking Multivariate Analysis and physics at the time. I told myself that I wasnt gonna start any debates. I just wasnt in the mood. But it was hard to resist!😄
It was only me another brotha in the class. At the end of the class the professor asked us what we thought about the class and I said exactly this before I rolled out: “I enjoyed this class and I learned more than I expected. It made me realize two things…..either white ppl are lying about history, agian. Or white ppl have become dumber though out the centuries.” 😄
If you look at the history of math you would have to come to one of these conclusions. One of the things I told the professor was what would be a good topic for a masters degree or even a PhD in math history is distiguishing what the Greeks actually learned from the Kmtwy compared to what the Greeks actually came up with themselves. Because through out the whole class and the book with was never pointed out what the Greeks did by themselves.
Anyway…what you all think about math history?
