Welcome, dear friends.
It’s time for another installment of Random Jamaican Creole Lessons.
And here’s today’s lesson.
The english terms “worse” and “worst” in Jamaican creole are pronounced like the word “was”, but with a true ‘s’ sound at the end rather than the ‘z’ sound at the end of the word “was”.
So…
Wos/ wohs/ wuss = worse/ worst
Wussah = “worser” i.e. considerably more dire than worse and yes even worst.
Wussarah = “worserer” i.e. infinitely bad beyond the capacity of any grammatical rules in any language in the human family of languages to convey.
Have a nice day.
