      Tanzania’s Energy Ministry Acting on President Hassan’s Directive to Explore Nuclear Energy

      The ministry is committed to establishing a safe and sustainable energy source, collaborating with institutions and stakeholders while adhering to international standards, Energy Ministry Deputy Permanent Secretary Khatibu Kazungu stated.

      Kazungu has directed the National Committee to develop a National Roadmap outlining key steps for the nuclear energy program up to 2050.

      The steps include:

      conducting feasibility studies on uranium resources,
      policy and legal assessments,
      public awareness campaigns,
      developing a policy framework to attract investment.

      Commissioner for Electricity and Renewable Energy Innocent Luoga stressed the need for public education to highlight nuclear energy’s benefits, safety measures, and regulations, ensuring citizens understand it as an opportunity, not a threat.

      The initiative is part of Tanzania’s long-term strategy for reliable electricity, environmental protection, and economic growth
