The first country Papa Garvey went to after leaving Jamaica was Costa Rica. Garveyism has had a long legacy in this Central Hemisphere nation state among some of its Antillean Kmtyu. Kmtyu=Black People=Afrikans live mostly on the Caribbean coast of this country, most famously the Limon Province. Papa Garvey lived there and even had a house there. Till this day the UNIA branch in Costa Rica is active, branch #300. This documentary centers their community and the impact of Papa Garvey in Costa Rica.
