Why was Sodom and Gomorrah destroyed
Many conservative Republicans and Independents say they voted for Trump since he stands against abortion and same sex marriages. What about all the other things which the Republicans and Trump stands for; such as racism, Greedy Capitalism, and Prideful lying.
Why do you still vote for that system:
1. Are they not guilty of every other point below as well?
2. Are you willing to overlook all the other divine crimes?
3. Will you not be in divine judgement with either party in the end?
While most Orthodox Jewish and Christian scholars have held the position that Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed because of their rampant homosexual behavior (namely, sodomy), there are others who believe that those cities were destroyed because of their pride.
Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed by God with fire and brimstone because of their pervasive wickedness, which is described in the Bible as including arrogance, in-hospitality, and violence, in addition to sexual immorality. The specific sins are a subject of debate, with some interpretations emphasizing in-hospitality and other social injustices, while others focus on sexual transgressions. The biblical narrative emphasizes their rejection of God and their violent, hateful mob that threatened the righteous visitors Lot was hosting.
Ezekiel 16:49-50
49 Look, this was the iniquity of your sister Sodom:
She and her daughter had pride, fullness of food, and abundance of idleness; neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.
Jude 1:7.
7 as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
Wickedness:
Genesis 4:10
The cities were characterized by their pervasive wickedness and sinfulness.
In-hospitality and violence:
The inhabitants were inhospitable to visitors, including the angels Lot was hosting. The biblical account states they threatened to harm and rape the men, a violent and aggressive mob rather than a consensual gathering.
Social injustice:
Leviticus 24:22
The Book of Ezekiel describes Sodom’s sin as being “arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy” and “haughty and did detestable things”.
Sexual immorality:
While the exact nature of the sins is debated, the account in Genesis 19 is often associated with sexual transgressions, specifically the mob’s demand for the male visitors.
FACT:
Are not the wealthy amongst us the most sexually perverse creatures on the face of this planet?
Divine judgment:
The cities’ destruction is presented as a divine judgment, a warning to other cities and people about the consequences of such pervasive sin.
Same Attitude and actions as Sodom and Gomorrah today:
Today’s Christians don’t believe they should judge each other and hold each other accountable.
Gen 19:9
9 And they said, “Stand back!” Then they said, “This one came in to stay here, and he keeps acting as a judge; now we will deal worse with you than with them.” So they pressed hard against the man Lot, and came near to break down the door.
