Ghana Just Signed a HUGE Military Agreement Deal with the European Union
Is Ghana becoming a hub for western military-security proxy nation in West Africa?
First there is a U.S. military base in Ghana, stationed at Ghana’s International Airport in Accra. The Accra International Airport is controlled by the U.S. military. Every U.S. military personnel in Ghana is given diplomatic immunity under the military agreement that was signed under Akufo-Addo regime.
Whenever you have a foreign military base in you country, it raises high concern for the sovereignty of your country. There is intelligence control; there is also strategic military dependency on that foreign military base on your land. And also, these foreign military bases will have control of key infrastructures in your country, such as the U.S. military having control of Accra International Airport.
Then there are French military troops in Ghana, deployed to Ghana on the pretense that they are fighting illegal mining (Galamsey).
A few weeks ago, in Feb/March 2026, there was a negotiation on defense cooperation agreement with Ghana and Ukraine, to boost Ghana’s counterterrorism, border security, and surveillance capabilities against growing threats in West Africa, with a focus on acquiring Ukrainian drones and military equipment.
Now there is a new military agreement between Ghana and the European Union. And Ghana is going to be the first Kmtyw (African) nation to sign this deal. So there is going to be European Union military troops in Ghana on the pretense that they are fighting terrorism coming down from the Sahel.
With this military agreement there is going to be military and security cooperation between Ghana and European Union countries (particularly France), and intelligence sharing.
Ghana now is the European Union military and security proxy nation in West Africa.
The Alliance of Sahel States has expelled all western military bases from their countries, and from the Sahel region, but you have neighboring West African countries still opening their borders and giving these Western European countries space to set up their military bases in their countries. It has been reported that it is these same Western European Union countries who are funding and training this radical Islamic groups who are wreaking havoc in the Sahel with this terrorist attacks (prime example, Ukraine and France). The leaders of the Alliance of Sahel States have told us that they have evidence that it is these same Western European Union countries who are training and sponsoring these Islamic terrorist groups.
In my opinion, it looks exactly like these European Union are encircling the Alliance of Sahel States countries. There are foreign western military bases in Ivory Coast, Ghana, Togo, Benin and Nigeria, and more west African countries will sign this military operation agreement deal with the European Union. The European Union is going to use this military agreement with West African countries to destabilize the Alliance of Sahel States. The Alliance of Sahel States having neighboring countries harboring foreign western military bases in their countries is a highly hostile security risk for their own security, stability and livelihood.
On the outside, Ghana appears to have good relationship with the Alliance of Sahel States, especially with Burkina Faso, but how should the Alliance of Sahel States respond to the European Union military agreement with Ghana and possibly with other west African countries?

When we begin to feel some sense of hope for reclamation of identity and self reliance, then all of a sudden they break our hearts with such agreements 🤦🏾♂️
