Convention of Afrikan People - The Gambia
The Harambee Organisation of Black Unity chaired by Kehinde Andrews will bring the Convention of Afrikan People to The Gambia on 18 and 19 April 2026 at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara conference centre.
The theme of the event will be “Voices of Afrika and the Diaspora”. It will focus on education, writing, storytelling and the arts as means of decolonisation with panel and floor discussions revolving around the role creatives have in achieving decoloniality and fostering Afrikan unity.
Both days will be accompanied by cultural moments i.e. musical performances from the students of The Gambia Academy (TGA, https://thegambiaacademy.org) and Barhama and Mariama Cham. The creatives of the West African Road Residency (https://loatad.org/wearesidency/) will hold panel discussions on both days to talk about their journey from Accra to Banjul.
