I read this book roughly 2 years ago, and I must say it doesn’t paint Lumumba in a very good light. In the epilogue, the author claims to have based this narrative on a combination of direct interviews and declassified counter intelligence agency transcripts. I take anything eurasians say with a grain of salt, but, all in all the book is a cautionary tale, in regards to effective “statecraft". It clearly provided me with yet another example of it being imbecilic to attempt to operate with outright diplomacy when dealing with the eurasian. According to this text, Lumumba was very naive, and that is what ultimately lead to his demise.
