I’m not sure about Igbo characters, but Yorùbá uses all of the same characters as the QWERTY keyboard, but just with ̣, ́ and ̀. It may be good to look at how Kasahorow implements this as it seems more straighforward (i.e., ALT+` gives low tone, ALT+ ́ gives the high tone and ALT+. gives the diacritic under the letter.

That’s exactly how I have done it characters will be accessed using the Alt Gr key instead with colour coding to differentiate

How will you do high and low tones? This is the most important feature of the Yorùbá language as it is unintelligible without tones.
