Initiation is supposed to be a sacred and transformational exercise. From a Dagara/Dagaaba perspective, once the journey is complete, the initiate is not the same person he/she was before the process. The Bagre or Initiation allows the individual to become fully aligned with their Ancestral lineage. Coming from the Diaspora, this journey has been powerful and heart-wrenching as I came to realize that my Ancestors did indeed come from this area between Lawra (Ghana) and Manoa (Burkina Faso). It is good to know that the spiritual traditions and the secret knowledge of Ancestral power are still kicking and alive in Afrika. Akaei!
