Report on the combined use of indigenous knowledge and modern environmental surveying among the Afar pastoralists in Ethiopia.

Very good article. I am sharing with a friend of mine with family remaining in Ethiopia. Would love to find out more about the Afar’s experience now.

That’s great, I’d love to hear what they have to say if you don’t mind sharing it.

She was interested in knowing more about how the university there is utilizing the indigenous ways to develop technology that improves people’s ways of life. Her NGO is NyaEden Foundation and her team is using indigenous techniques to to resolve postwar animosities, divisions, and ptsd.

Just visited the website (https://www.nyaedenfoundation.org/). Very powerful. The Alliance for Food Sovereignty in Africa have done some research about improving livelihoods through indigenous practices, although the focus is almost solely on farming. Hope your friend is able to make the connection with them.

She is one of them. Her family is there and her organization supports the people in the communities affected by violence or war. She has 1st hand relationships on the ground and has partnered with me in effort to restore indigenous language and other aspects of culture to African people. I know her organization NyaEden has positive impact on the girls and women served but we hope that iSPEAK and the GILD Standard will be another method of self determination for Africans at home and abroad. My thinking, if we can cleanse our minds of the West, we can actually build in excellence.
