The Berlin Conference of 1884-1885

In 1884, the colonial leaders of fourteen European countries and the United States came together to discuss who is going to rule the Land of the Blacks=Kmt= Farafina=Abibiman, (Africa), and control the immense richness of its natural resources and wealth.

Even during the Berlin Conference of 1884, the old saying was still true back then-“Whoever controls the Lands of the Blacks (Africa), controls the world.”

Known as The Berlin Conference, European men came together in Berlin, Germany to sought out and discuss the partitioning of Kmt=Abibiman=Farafina=Land of the Blacks, (Africa), by establishing rules, regulations, and agreements on boundaries and borders in Kmt=Abibiman=Farafina=Land of the Blacks, (Africa), among themselves, and most importantly, to amicably divide the vast richness of the natural resources and wealth that Kmt=Abibiman=Land of the Blacks (Africa) has for themselves, and also for their individual European countries. The Berlin Conference was at the expense of Kmtyw=Abibifo=Black people (African people). White European men who never set foot in Kmt=Abibiman=Farafina=Land of the Blacks (Africa), have set the borders and boundaries in Kmt=Abibiman (Africa) that we know today and we are still holding on to our colonial enemies borders and boundaries for dear life.

Of these fourteen European nations at the Berlin Conference, France, Germany, Great Britain, and Portugal were the dominating powers and major players. Notably missing were any representatives from Kmt=Abibiman=Farafina=the Black Community=the Land of the Blacks, (Africa).

One of the great tasks of the Berlin Conference was for each European country that claimed possession over a territory in Kmt=Abibiman=Land of the Blacks=Farafina,(Africa), is that of bringing “civilization,” to the territories they possess, in the form of Christianity.

“We will show the Negro that the government and civilization of the white race means peace, prosperity and freedom for them.”

But the intelligent race among all, that which invades and tends to subjugate and destroy the other races, is the one to which we belong, and it is the white race.”

The Kongo

The Kongo was a region coveted by all the European powers (and is still is) at the Berlin Conference, because of its extraordinary riches in natural resources and wealth.

Initially during the conference, the Portuguese claimed the Kongo for themselves, on the basis that they “discovered” it first. Meaning they were the first European men to set foot on the Kongo’s soil.

Henry Morton Stanley

The Kongo and its natural resources and wealth, was claimed by Leopold II as his own personal property, The Congo Free State.

It was a European missionary explorer in Central Africa name, Henry Morton Stanley, who was an agent for Leopold II, exploring and surveying the Kongo Basin regions for the establishment of Leopold II’s personnel property, the Congo Free State.

Because Henry Morton Stanley was an agent working for Leopold II’s ultimate mission and agenda of having absolute control of the Kongo, and Kongo’s natural resources and wealth, Leopold invited Henry Morton Stanley to the Berlin conference to enlighten the other European nations about his expedition into the interior of Kmt=Abibiman=Land of the Blacks=Farafina,(Africa), and to give his knowledge on his exploration of the Kongo and the Kongo Basin region.

But how was Henry Morton Stanley able to capture a huge landmass, as the Kongo, for Leopold II?

Henry Morton Stanley, traveled to different territories and regions in the Kongo Basin collecting illegitimate signatures of kings and traditional indigenous rulers and leaders in the Kongo. Morton Stanley collected over 450 different settlement territory treaties from kings and traditional indigenous rulers and leaders in the Kongo Basin. The Kings and the traditional Rulers of the Kongo Basin regions and territories did not speak, write or understand French or any of the European languages. All the Kings and the various traditional Rulers and Leaders in the Kongo probably saw a white man telling them to put an “X” or a “mark” on a paper, and not exactly knowing what their signatures meant. The illegitimate “X” or “mark” signature that the various King and Rulers in the Kongo put on a paper, was the beginning of one of the greatest holocaust, genocide and human rights violations and abuses ever committed in history. The 450 illegitimate signatures of the Kings and Rulers of the Kongo that Morton Stanley collected and gave to Leopold II, gave the land, economic rights and labor of the Kongolese peoples to Leopold. In essence, the 450 illegitimate signatures was the beginning stage of the creation of the “Congo Free State”.

The Europeans had automatic machine gun at the time of the Berlin Conference. The Maxim gun was the first automatic gun and invented in 1884. And in 1884, Henry Morton Stanley had completed collecting the illegitimate signatures of the Kings and the traditional Rulers in the Kongo. The illegitimate signed treaties by the Kings and traditional Rulers in the Kongo Basin, gave the Kongo Basin territories and regions to Leopold II of Belgium. Henry Morton Stanley, a Christian missionary, had access to the Maxim gun on his travels and expedition through the Kongo Basin region, as an agent for Leopold II. The Kongo Basin was Leopold personal property to do with it and to the Kongolese people whatever he wants. With the Congo Free State being Leopold’s personal property, Leopold sought personal gain at the expense of the Congolese people, using them as slave labor to extract natural resources for his own wealth. If production waned or targets were not met, they risked severe punishments ranging from the severing of a hand to death.

There are first hand accounts of the brutal atrocities that Henry Morton Stanley committed against the people of the Kongo. There are written records of corporal punishments (hippo skin leather whipping as punishment) enslavement, and killings of Kongolese people by Morgan Stanley.

Stanley was a Christian missionary who was going into the heart of the “Dark Continent” to civilize the savage, barbaric, heathen “Africans”, in the name of Christianity.

It is recorded that when Henry Morton Stanley was in the Kongo on his Christian missionary duties and surveying territories and lands for Leopold II’s Congo Free State personnel property project; what Morton Stanley would do to convince and convert the Kongolese people to Christianity and proof to the Kongolese people that the “white man’s Christian god is greater than your ancestral cultural god”, Morton Stanley will shoot a Kongolese person with a gun, and then he will give a gun with no bullets inside to a Kongolese person and will order for the Kongolese person to shoot him; but to the surprise of the Kongolese person, when he points the gun and pulls on the trigger to shoots at Mortan Stanley, nothing happens to him. Mortan Stanley is still standing up. He is still talking. And he is laughing at the naive Kongolese people. The Kongolese people are be amaze and astonished that one of their brother’s is laying on the ground dead, with his brians blown out and blood is oozing out of his head. Then Stanley will shoot and kill another Kongolese person and he will give an empty gun with no bullets inside to a Kongolese person and give the order to a Kongolese person to shoot him. And the same result happens as the previous time. A Kongolese person is killed and murdered by Morton Stanley, and lying on the ground with blood oozing out of his chest; and again Morton Stanley will be laughing at the Kongolese people , easily convincing the Kongolese people that indeed “the white man’s Christian god is greater than our ancestral god.”

This is how Henry Morton Stanley and other European missionaries have used violence, murder, slavery, lies, and trickery, and deception to convince Black People=Abibifoɔ=Kmtyw to throw away their own and culture and traditions and follow foreign cultures and traditions, like Christianity.

Henry Morton Stanley was (and is) not the only European Christian missionary that was (and is) using brutal, cruel, and violent tactics to convert Black People=Abibifoɔ=Kmtyw to Christianity and away from their own cultural practices and traditions.

This are the type of horrific and brutal stories that Christian missionaries participated in during their civilization mission to colonize Kmt=Abibiman=Land of the Blacks=Farafina,(Africa). The Christian church does not want these types of brutal colonial atrocities, abuses, and human rights violations that was committed against Black People=Abibifoɔ=Kmtyw by Christian missionaries to come out into the public domain.

Before the Berlin Conference: European Involvement in Kmt=Land of the Blacks, (Africa), before 1884

Kmt=Abibiman=Land of the Blacks=Farafina,(Africa), was the only landmass, as a whole that was untouched by the European and was essentially ignored. Yes, the Europeans had contact with Black People=Abibifoɔ=Kmtyw for centuries before the Berlin Conference of 1884, especially during the genocide and human trafficking of Black People=Abibifoɔ=Kmtyw, (African peoples), into the Americas. But, before 1870, Kmt=Abibiman=Land of the Blacks=Farafina,(Africa) as a continent, as a large continental landmass was not really controlled and ruled by white Europeans men. Kmt=Abibiman=Land of the Blacks=Farafina,(Africa), was essentially ignored. Before the Berlin conference of 1884, African kings, its indegenious traditional rulers and leaders and its people, owned 90% of Kmt=Abibiman=Land of the Blacks=Farafina,(Africa). The Berlin conference changed all that. After the Berlin conference of 1884-1885, European men ventured into the interior of Kmt=Abibiman=Land of the Blacks=Farafina,(Africa), with superior weaponry, like the Maxim gun, and the development of better medicine to withstand the diseases that was killing white men who ventured deep into the heart of Kmt=Abibiman=Land of the Blacks=Farafina,(Africa). After the completion of Berlin Conference of 1884-1885, is when Europeans started to have complete colonial rule, domination and supremacy over Kmt=Abibiman=Land of the Blacks=Farafina,(Africa), and of Black People=Abibifoɔ=Kmtyw.

For centuries, the western Europen men were allowed (allocated, issued, assigned, and granted permission) only limited trade posts on the coastal areas in Kmt=Abibiman (on the African continent), to trade with the local people, the kings, and traditional rulers on the coastal areas. The Berlin conference gave the authoritative (objective) agreement among white European men to venture into the interior of Kmt=Abibiman=Black Lands, (Africa), with the false claim of bringing the light of civilization into the DARK CONTINENT, in the form of Christianity.

Before the Berlin Conference, European colonization of Kmt=Land of the Blacks=Abibiman, (Africa), was present, but was only limited to mostly the coast, and the coastal areas. In 1870, only 10% of Kmt=Land of the Blacks=Abibiman, (Africa), was under European control, domination and rule. After the 1870s the “Scramble for Africa” began in earnest; with 90% of Kmt=Land of the Blacks=Abibiman, (Africa), under European control and rule by World War I.

• Before the Berlin conference of 1884, there were trading and commerce relationships with indigenous kings and traditional rulers in Africa, but the trading posts were mainly situated on the coasts of Africa.
• With the exception of trading posts along the coasts used to trade goods and slaves around the world, the continent of Africa, was essentially ignored by Europeans until the second half of the 19th century.
• Even as late as the 1870s, European nations still controlled only 10% of the African continent; by WWI, Europe controlled 90% of Africa.
• Prior to the Berlin Conference of 1884, which formalized the “Scramble for Africa,” European colonies had been formed throughout Africa but on a very small scale.

Scramble for Africa:

The invasion, occupation, division, colonization, and annexation of Kmt=Abibiman=Land of the Blacks (African territory) by European colonial powers during the period of the New European Imperialism and Colonialism, between 1881 and 1914, also called the “Partition of Africa “and “the Conquest of Africa”.

In 1870, only 10 percent of Kmt=Abibiman=Land of the Blacks, (Africa), was under European control; but, by 1914 it had increased to 90 percent on The Continent (Africa), with only Ethiopia (Abyssinia), the Dervish state (present-day Somalia) and Liberia still independent (even though Liberia was a colonial state for the United States).

Even as late as the 1870s, European nation states still controlled only 10 percent of Kmt=Abibiman=Land of the Blacks (the African Continent), with territories concentrated near the coast. The most important holdings were Angola and Mozambique, held by Portugal; the Cape Colony, held by the United Kingdom; and Algeria, held by France. By 1914, only Ethiopia and Liberia were independent of European control. By 1914, 90 percent of Kmt=Abibiman=Farafina= Land of the Blacks (Africa) was in the control, domination, and rule of imperialist European colonial powers.
