Having the right tools for the job is essential, and will help elevate your sewing project by giving it a more polished and professional look.🙌🏾
Let’s take a look at the sewing tools that are a must-have in your sewing kit👇🏾
✅Fabric shears- These will be one of your most used and important cutting tools (these are for fabric only, and a sewist will practically off w/your head if you use them for anything besides fabric😤)
✅Thread snips live next to your machine, ready to snip threads. Snips are smaller, light weight w/a pointy front ideal for snipping those stray threads
✅Seam ripper- has one longer pointed end & another shorter end with a red ball on it to prevent the fabric from ripping by accident. Seam rippers do just what their name suggests- rip seams
✅All-purpose (paper scissors) these can be used for cutting paper patterns, elastics, craft projects etc. because remember, your fabric shears are for fabric only!
👆🏾 Are the essential cutting tools, but if you want to go pro, you could also add these items👇🏾to your cutting tools as well.
✅Rotary cutters- rotary cutters can be a great way to quickly & accurately cut straight and even curved lines & through multiple layers of fabric. These were a lifesaver during the pandemic when I was cutting tons of masks
✅Pinking shears- stop the edges of fabric from fraying and are great for finishing seams.
