The front porch is an Afrikan architectural feature/design that was introduced to the Americas via enslaved Afrikans. Contrary to popular belief, enslavement did not only involve agriculture and textiles but even more so the forced labour of West Central Afrikan Blacksmiths, Architects, Herbalists, Sailors and more. Pictured below is an example of traditional Akan architecture that was implemented into many American houses and still continues to be a standard feature in American Architecture.
Prior to this Europeans did not have front porches due to their cold homeland, therefore conditioned to socialising only indoors or in private backyards. The very reason for Afrikan front porches is that the Afrikan preference for socialising in the front of the house has always dealt with the communal worldview and the desire to always be linked with the community.

this is some interesting stuff, the patio/porch is coming directly from us. the rural south…what do you see, you see us, outside on the porch talking, socializing and enjoying a good time with others.
