I’m new to the app. Just checking things out. Right now, I’m needing resource support/ideas on how to start my own Afrikan centered preschool. It will be out of my home. Currently, I work at a ‘black’ preschool, but it’s becoming more gentrified by the day as they are opening a new building that was funded by white folks. So they are enrolling more white families and hiring more white people. I still teach African centered in my classroom, but they try to stop me with the ‘we’re multicultural’ speech. They even came to my classroom switched out my books (I only buy or check out books that only have black characters and stories in them)and replaced them with these white character books. I did remove those books and put the ones I bought back in my classroom. Another thing, I’m having a difficult time finding books with black characters written and illustrated by both black authors. If I didnt get those books I’d have nothing and at this point that is better than nothing. Keep in mind I’m teaching three year olds. I’m also teaching them the little bit of Swahili I know and create avtivities that I can connect to ACE concepts. I’m doing this until I can resign and officiallly start my own program. Needing resources, ideas and support. Asanteni.

Thank you I’ll check her out. Like I said, I find books, but most time they are by white authors. I found this one author named Verna Aardema thought she was black. Why when I looked her up she was a white woman?
