No, there is no such thing as Kemetic Yoga. Did you read the quote above correctly? There is however smai tawi – a system of mind-body conditioning that the people of Kemet were well known for.

This video is the best critique I’ve seen on why Kemetic yoga is a modern invention based on misapprehension of how 3D statues are represented on 2D walls.

The many benefits of Yoga could be realized in Capoeira. When I was actively practicing Capoeira, we focused a lot on flexibility, breathing, and core strength training. In regards to the spiritual element of Yoga which people seem to be attracted to, my studio had Yoruba Divinities on the walls and lessons on Ifa. My Mestre was unto something when he invited a Babalawo (Black) for a workshop.

Awhile back, I read an entire Master’s Thesis on the African Origins of Yoga and the author did not use one glyph to make her case.
Interestingly, someone in the comment section argued that Kemetic Spirituality is dynamic and not static, and the poses were revealed to them through the Ntru.
I concur that African Spirituality is dynamic, however, the problem remains that Kemetic Yoga is presented as an ancient Kemetic spiritual system that is the origin of Yoga. Kemetic Yoga is an Africanized version of an eastern spiritual system.
