I am the Artistic Director and percussion soloist of Vélékété African Ancestral Percussion. I have over 50 years’ experience as a professional band leader and have performed with artists such as Babtunde Olatunji’s Drums of Passion, Forces of Nature Dance Company, Papa Ladji Camara’s Les Ballets Africains and Sabar Ak Ru Afrique to name a few. I am proficient in several West African percussion instruments such as Djembe, Djun-djun, Songba, Shekere, Mbalax Bunbun, Congas and more. I can be called upon for such events as: spiritual gatherings (such as Vodoun and Yoruba spiritual rites and ceremonies), weddings, naming ceremonies, home-going ceremonies, inviting and welcoming the ancestors to join in events. This is not an advertisement. I am simply introducing myself.
