So while reading about the Honorable Marcus Garvey’s death, I can’t help but think of how devastated and heartbroken he must have felt with the betrayal and sabotage from his own people. Not to mention being incarcerated and the deaths of black people through the hands of white terror dominators. He had experienced a lot of pain throughout his short-lived life and it is no surprise that he suffered a stroke or heart attack at such a young age. The campaign that Dubois started against him had to be distressing at the very least. The hatred and vile things Eurasians did were to be expected considering the nature of those beasts. That’s enough to destroy anyone, yet he kept his words and love towards his people. He is a god in my eyes.

I have a book that is an anthology of essays about him that I got from a vintage black book store here in K.C. You are right, while he wasnt perfect it was our own(sell outs)who contributed to the stress that led to his death. The book was written in like 1970 or something and whoever had it before me they mustve read it a lot because the cover is ripped and torn, Ive also read it a lot myself it’s one of my faves. Its called Marcus Garvey and the Vision for Africa edited by Nana J.H. Clarke and Nana Amy Jacques-Garvey.

Oh Wow. I would love to read it so I will try to search for it. Thank you.

I think that DTR360 books may have it. It’s one of the black owned online book stores that I try to support. There are others too. Anyway, I love that book. Whoever had it before me put it to good use because it is falling apart. I probably need to purchase a new copy myself.

Oh ok. I think I follow them on Instagram. A few of my books from Mwalimu Baruti are like that. It just shows the love I have for it.
