I was listening in on a conversation wherein a woman proudly declared she IS NOT African because she was born in the U.S. and her family has a military background and blood, sweat, bla bla yadda. I don’t like to convince anyone of obvious things so I didn’t contribute to the conversation. However, an amazing Sister from the U.K. said that (the other woman) can call herself whatever she wants but a Nigerian, a Kenyan, and a Brit born of African parents are all African. She elaborated but finished that she doesn’t see how being born in America would afflict a person with a loss of her African race. 😊 You’d have to be there! She was brilliant. 4 years ago ·
