“By our continuing to write in foreign languages, paying homage to them, are we not on the cultural level continuing that neo-colonial slavish and cringing spirit? What is the difference between a politician who says Africa cannot do without imperialism and the writer who says Africa cannot do without European languages?”

This quote hits very hard now that I’ve visited a collection of KMT artifacts at a local NY museum, where I could “see” the mdr ntchr but I was unable to read it. At this point in my re-education journey I can see that I need literacy in mdr ntchr, kiswahili, creole. The eurasian languages aren’t even necessary since a) they have so little to offer us and b) their language (esp English) creates a dead/thingified view of the world.

@ajayrevels, yes, engagement with African languages is key to apprehending the African worldview.
