I was thinking of finally uploading a cover photo for my profile, but then couldn’t decide what I wanted. So I thought, “let me just draw up something”. Because the term, Wḥm Mswt (rebirth/renaissance) had been in my head from recent readings, I decided to create a character, incorporating the images that make up its hieroglyph. I had so much fun sketching that I only got half the lineart done, and so of course no cover photo today (I should really head to sleep, haha!)
I did decide to screen record while working on this so far, so maybe when the drawing is done, I’ll make a time-lapse video of the art process — And perhaps add a voiceover of some thoughts while working on it. This is some of the content that I want to produce for AbibitumiTV. I want to eventually create some learning courses/guides, with tips and tricks on character design & development, concept art, digital art, 3D modelling/sculpting & animation programs…worldbuilding, etc.

Blacktastik!!! Looking great so far, can’t wait to see the end! My favorite part of drawing is coloring; I see it as bringing the people to life. And may I ask, how did you get photoshop? Right now they’re asking for a subscription, and I had a difficult time finding the older versions so I could get hack them

My favourite part of the process is doing the lineart/inking, for me, the lines are where I’m most expressive as an artist. I suppose it’s also because I’m no good when it comes to the coloring or rendering of a piece, haha! I’m not too wise on color-theory and horribly fumble around when coloring stuff (I am awed by what people can produce in this area). Funny enough, I got rid of my PhotoShop sub a while ago when I made a commitment to cancelling just about every subscription/bill outside of phone/internet/electricity in order to better save money for Repatriation.
I use “Clip Studio Paint” which I adopted way back in 2008 as my main art program when it was still called “Manga Studio 3″…I first hacked a free version and then upgraded to “Manga Studio 5” for a $45 one-time payment — And amazingly, that one $45 got me a free copy of ANY future upgrades the company made to their product…even through a complete rebranding! So I haven’t for anything since.
