Back to practicing with my left hand.

I know you don’t want me to get left.
-
I’ve been practicing writing right to left as well. The orientation of the kmtyw was so expansive.

True. I use my left hand to write right to left and I use my right hand to write left to right. I’m getting more and more used to writing with my left hand these days.

Wow! That is a whole ‘nother level. Just powerful

Meda wo ase. As you see, I also translate into Twi rather than into krakkka

Aane. I liked that.

Would the transliteration of the untransliterated glyphs in the third line be “mr nhbt”??? Is that glyph the nhbt wand?

No, it’s xbA – to subtract in contradistinction to wAH – to add. The U7 glyph and the D40 glyphs are determinatives here.

The overall translation is “Can one add a day to a lifetime? Can one subtract from it either?”
-
Wowowow, that’s sooo deep

Ka diâmbu ko.

I’m looking at Gardiner and he says xbA with these two determinatives means: “destroy” or “overwhelm” (without them it means to “lessen, subtract”). Interesting. I also find it fascinating to theorize about why the ancient kmtyw used certain glyphs to describe certain ideas. Like why are these two determinatives used? These are questions I ask Baba Beatty a lot.

I edited the initial post. The first part wAH is the add part while the xbA is the subtract part. It seems like the idea of cutting or hacking away with effort or force is the relevant part for subtracting.
