The Teachings of Ptahhotep
The Maxims of Ptahhotep
He said unto his Son:
“Let your heart be your guide for the length and breadth of your life. Give no thought on who and what goes against what your heart says to you. Do not allow negative people and negative things to reduce the limited time given to you on this Earth; doing so is a detestable act against your Ka [Spirit, Soul], for it takes away precious time of your life away from you. Do not waste your precious time on negative people and negative things beyond what is close to your heart. To have a heavy heart, distresses your spirit.”
He spoke to his Son:
“In each precious moment of each divine day of your life, manifest the great desires formed and created in your heart. Do not hang on to negative people and negative things, doing so is a huge displeasure to your Ka [Spirit, Soul]. Do not waste your precious time on unnecessary people and unnecessary things beyond providing for yourself, your family, your friends and your community. Much will occur in your life on this Earth, but in all things listen and adhere to the little voice of your heart. You will not prosper if you ignore the desires of your heart.”
He said to his Son:
“Follow your heart all days of your life; do not do more than what your heart commands of you. Do not concern yourself with the unnecessary things in life that will sidetrack you from following your heart, doing so is an abomination to your Ka [Spirit, Soul], for it will take away precious time of your life away from you. Do not waste your precious time on unnecessary things, beyond what what is close to your heart. When you become rich, still follow your heart. For you will not enjoy your riches if your heart is heavy.”
He said to his Son:
“Follow your heart as long as You live. Do not go against what your heart tells you. Do not associate yourself with unnecessary people and unnecessary things that will turn you away from following your heart; doing so is a defilement to your Ka [Spirit, Soul]. Do not waste a moment of any day of your life with unnecessary people and unnecessary things, beyond providing for your household, family, friends, community. As things happens in your life, always follow your heart. You will not profit in life if your heart is heavy.”
He addressed his Son:
“Follow your heart as long as You live. Do not do more than what your heart tells you. Do not associate yourself with unproductive people and unproductive things that deflects you from following your heart; doing so is a destruction to your Ka [Spirit, Soul]. Do not waste a moment of your precious days on this Earth on unproductive people and unproductive things, beyond your family, your friends and your community. When wealth comes to you, still follow your heart. Wealth does no good, if your heart is heavy.”
Let me speak unto my Son:
“Follow your heart’s desire as long as You live and do not perform more than what your heart has ordered you. Do not allow irrelevant, unimportant, insignificant things in your life to waste your precious time on this Earth; doing so is a grave mistake to your Ka [Spirit, Soul]. Do not waste any precious days of your life on this Earth on irrelevant, unimportant, and insignificant things beyond what is close to your heart’s desire. When you achieve great riches, still follow your heart desires. For you will not enjoy your riches, if your heart is lifeless.”
Let me speak to my Son:
“Follow your instincts. Do not go against what your instinct tells you. Do not be in the company of toxic negative people and toxic negative energies that will turn you away from the path of your life destiny; doing so is a great evil to your Ka [Spirit, Soul]. Do not waste any precious moment of your limited time on this Earth on toxic negative people and toxic negative energies, beyond yourself, your family, your friends, your community. There will be so much that will happen in every stage of your life, but still in all things listen to your instincts. Listen to that little voice in your heart. For you will not enjoy all the great accomplishments you work so hard to achieve, if your heart is heavy.”
You will not enjoy life if you keep worrying about “what if.”
Follow your heart all the days your life.
