I watched The Piano Lesson yesterday and its ending had me thinking about Hoodoo, which is a recurring (if unnamed element in films depicting certain periods of African American life. Examples which come to mind include Birth of a Nation, Sankofa, The Color Purple, and of course the masterpiece Daughters of the Dust. What films can you think of that depict Hoodoo?
