• Burkina Faso Aims to Double Wheat Production by 2026

According to recent data published by the Ministry of Agriculture on Tuesday, during the 2024-2025 campaign, the country produced 2,597 tonnes of wheat across 1,342.59 hectares, supported by subsidized inputs, agricultural equipment, and free plowing.

For the 2025-2026 season, the target production is 6,000 tonnes. Planned support includes:

      certified seeds,
      fertilizers,
      plant protection products,
      irrigation,
      harvesting,
      post-harvest equipment,
capacity building for producers to optimize cultivation practices.

The initiative aligns with Burkina Faso’s strategic objective of achieving food self-sufficiency by reducing wheat imports.
