Major DRC University to Make Russian Language Mandatory, Says RUDN Rector
The Free University of Kinshasa in the DR Congo has formed 14 study groups comprising 280 first-year students for the new compulsory program, supported by the Patrice Lumumba Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia (RUDN), according to RUDN Rector Oleg Yastrebov.
RUDN, a leading Russian university for international educational exchange, is providing teaching staff and literature to support the launch, Yastrebov added.
“This is one of the brightest projects of the beginning of this year, and we are proud that we were able to promote the Russian language initiative at a high organizational level in one of the largest countries in Africa,” he told a press conference at Sputnik’s parent media group’s press center.
As part of its international cooperation, RUDN implements more than 120 joint educational programs around the world. Moreover, the university makes it possible to study Russian online for the children and grandchildren of its graduates.
