“Let’s buy local”: UNPRB launches a plea for Burkinabe rice in the face of imports
Faced with competition from rice imports, the National Union of Rice Producers of Burkina Faso (UNPRB) launched a campaign on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, in Ouagadougou, to advocate for placing local production at the heart of national consumption.
This initiative aims to inform the public about the challenges of marketing and consuming Burkinabe rice, while raising awareness of the importance of consuming local products by highlighting their nutritional and gustatory qualities.

This is a great move.
A plea is okay but might not get the message across proper in my opinion. Systems like tax increment on importation of food especially rice and easy access to the local rice plus other methods would go a long way to help.
