🇬🇳 Army Commander Convicted Over Guinea’s 2009 Stadium Massacre Dies in Prison

Aboubacar Sidiki Diakité, a former Guinean army commander convicted for his role in the September 2009 stadium massacre in Conakry, has died in prison. More than 150 people were killed and hundreds of women were raped during that attack, in which security forces opened fire on opposition supporters gathered at a stadium.

Diakité had been one of the key figures prosecuted in a landmark trial that took over a decade to complete after the atrocity.
