Romuald Wadagni Elected New President of Benin: Provisional Results
Wadagni, who served as Minister of Finance in the current Beninese government, won 94.05% of the vote, according to provisional results announced late Monday night by the Autonomous National Electoral Commission (CENA).
👉He was elected for a seven-year term.
His rival, Paul Hounkpè, former Minister of Culture, received 5.95% of the vote.
He conceded defeat, offering his “republican congratulations” to his only opponent, even before the results were announced.
📄The results proclaimed by the CENA remain provisional and must still be validated by the Constitutional Court, in accordance with the constitution.
