China & Mozambique Seal Key Minerals Agreement: Media
🤝 Beijing and Maputo have finalized a major pact to explore vast graphite, lithium, and rare earth deposits in Cabo Delgado — critical minerals fueling EV batteries, wind turbines, and smartphones, Chinese media reported.
🇨🇳 China will finance on-site processing facilities, railway infrastructure, and electricity grids — marking a shift from simple extraction to the development of full industrial zones. Beijing is now helping Maputo process minerals locally, rather than export unrefined ore.
Chinese state-owned firms already hold substantial stakes in Mozambique’s $30 billion LNG projects.
🇲🇿 Mozambique has also emerged as a key global hub for natural gas production, with more than 5 trillion cubic meters of reserves in the Rovuma Basin along its northeast coast.
