The Founding 500: We’re Just Getting Started
The Black Agenda GhanaAccra, Ghana
May 3, 2026
To the Founding 500,
We did it.
Because of you, this petition passed its first major milestone ahead of schedule, reaching 510 supporters and counting.
The response has been powerful. This petition is on fire, and signatures are coming in at a frenetic pace. That tells us clearly that the call for reform is not isolated, minor, or easy to ignore.
Historic Diasporans, Ghanaians, residents, descendants of those displaced through enslavement, and supporters of reparative justice are standing together to say:
The process must match the promise.
Ghana’s citizenship and inclusion framework must be fair, transparent, accessible, restorative, and representative.
But we are just getting started.
Next milestone: 1,000 supporters.
At 1,000 signatures, this petition becomes even harder to dismiss. It shows that this is a broad and growing public demand for a citizenship pathway rooted in justice, dignity, and real representation.
Every signature strengthens the call to:
- Review and suspend the prohibitive GHS 25,000 citizenship application fee
- Remove DNA as a blanket or default requirement
- Ensure Historic Diasporans have real, constituency-mandated representation
- Establish a clear, year-round citizenship pathway
- Build a process grounded in reparative justice, not exclusion
