        Vodou: Theology of Liberation

From the producers of Ancestral Voices:

In 5 days we will be taking a deep-dive into one of the monumental achievements the world prefers to ignore, presumably for the fear of it happening again!

After 13 years of sustained resistance, a united Black front powdered by a syncretism of African sacred knowledge systems did what for centuries had been considered ‘impossible’: the myth that people of African-descent were doomed to perpetual enslavement was shattered forever and the birth of the first and only independent Black nation in the Western Hemisphere was born!

It set a standard to remind us of what true pan-africanism in action looks like without tribal preferences, illusions of cultural superiority, colourism or classism and continues to serves as a treasure trove for studies of liberation and social equity today!

Join us this Friday for a screening of the 2021 revolutionary breakthrough of a film, Vodou: Theology of Liberation. A unique educational piece that takes an interdisciplinary approach to Haitian Vodou to highlight the range of cultural, intellectual, psychological and sacred techniques used to inspire fear and defeat in the coloniser whilst promoting courage, unity and Ancestral guidance for the enslaved and free Africans to secure the ultimate victory!

Followed by a Q&A with director Dalian Adofo.

Haitian Vodou continues to elicit feelings of unease and mystery for those who remain ignorant of its true essence and purpose, due to centuries of negative propaganda it has been subject to. Reduced to nothing but superstitious ritual practices and … Continue reading
